How patrol check-ins work

04:30

Before the first shift

A Neptune guard is chosen long before they reach your gate. We recruit with the police involved, check every candidate with their LC1 and three referees, and fingerprint every guard.

Then comes a month of training in eleven disciplines, from fire-fighting and first aid to radio procedure and report writing. Only recruits who complete all of it are deployed.

  • Neptune’s values, mission, goals and vision
  • The role and functions of a private security officer
  • Fire-fighting, prevention and control
  • Radio and telephone communication
  • Guarding and patrolling
  • General first aid
  • Basic legal requirements
  • Self-defence
  • Public relations and customer care
  • Discipline
  • Report writing

Parade, then the briefing

Guards report to parade 30 minutes before deployment. They are checked for sobriety and smartness, and briefed on the day's post orders. The briefing is never skipped.

Every hour

Every hour, proof

We install patrol checkpoints around your premises. Every hour, your guard walks the route and checks in at each one.

After every shift, Neptune or you can download the log and see exactly when and how often your guard patrolled. A missed hour shows up. It is how we stop guards sleeping on duty, and how you know they didn't.

  • Checkpoints installed at your premises
  • Guard checks in every hour, all shift
  • Log downloaded after every shift, by us or by you
  • Night supervisors make surprise visits by motorbike

16:30

Handover

The night shift parades, is briefed and deployed at 16:30, and takes over from 17:00. Supervision doesn't stop when the light does.

  • A monthly score sheet tracks every guard’s performance.
  • One supervisor for every ten guards.
  • The best three guards each month are rewarded.
  • Annual salary increments, and a salary structure from junior staff to senior officers.
  • No personal phone use on duty, only security communication.
  • Guards are monitored for intoxication throughout the shift.

One supervisor for every ten guards, every shift.

02:00

The quiet hours

Between midnight and dawn, a guard is most tempted to rest. That is when we check hardest.

Supervisors on motorbikes

Night supervisors ride between sites through the night to check that every guard is alert. Remote supervision devices cover off-site locations.

Alarm response

When an alarm goes off, our quick reaction force of trained officers is dispatched to the premises.
